There are two Army places that have been hard to leave: 1. Ft. Bliss, near El Paso and 2. Ft. Lewis, Washington. In two years, we’ve grown remarkably deep roots. But as the Army does, we’re moving back across the country to another Pentagon tour.
We celebrated Greg’s change of command from 1-37 Field Artillery this morning. I don’t have pretty prose for this parting from Soldiers and Families who are so dear to us - just words and feelings:
Getting a few last chance day trips in before we move next week. If life brings you to the #pnw be sure to take a hike at Mowich Lake in #mtrainiernationalpark. This is our fourth trip here, and we keep coming back for the clear water and views of Rainier with no crowds .
Hello and Happy Friday Introductions. I’m Hershey the Chocolate Labrador. I’m 11 months old and love to eat things that don’t belong to me.
Happy Friday! I’m Elizabeth, meeting you where I am in life for today’s Friday Introductions. I’m an Army wife and Catholic author in the middle of a cross-country move, or “PCS” for military readers. We arrived at Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington, from Washington, DC, almost exactly two years ago. Next week, we’ll trek back across the country and return for another tour in the DC area. From one Wasghinton, to the other, and back again. It’s a PCS boomerang.
Finding rest even during PCS season is key, so yesterday we stole away for one more trip to the Pacific Ocean before we head back to the other Washington. A day of sand, tide pools and wild blackberry pie was just what we needed.
